The
goal of Children First Utah is to help families motivated enough to pay
for their children’s educational opportunity. CFU awards new
scholarships to students in grades K-8; however, once in the program,
students are eligible to continue through high school. Scholarships are
granted for one-half of the total tuition amount up to $1800 per year,
which includes a $100 stipend per child for books and uniforms.
How
Do I Qualify?
CFU's scholarships are based strictly on need. We offer them to
low-income families (as defined in the table to the right). Parents
must show proof of income each year in order to remain eligible. All
scholarship funds are paid directly to the school on a monthly basis.
How
Does the Program Work?
Qualified applications are placed into a random drawing. The number of scholarships we provide each year is based on our funding. If you are given a scholarship, you are free to use the scholarship at the school of your choice, within the guidelines listed below.
What School Can I Choose?
- Schools must enroll students into a full-time program
- Schools must meet in a building used primarily as a school.
- Schools must employ full-time paid staff.
- The school curriculum must include a majority of core academic
content (math, science, English, and history)
Where Can I find Out about Education in Utah?
- List of private schools in Utah.
- Other community and educational resources.
- Groups involved in improving
public education
Where
Does the Money Come From?
All CFU funding comes from the contributions of generous individuals,
businesses, and foundations. Your support
can make a difference.
